I am proud to return to my home city of Boston and celebrate Massachusetts’ 10th year of marriage equality, the very week I celebrate the release of my new book, The New Art of Capturing Love: The Essential Guide of Lesbian & Gay Wedding Photography. On May 9, I’ll be speaking with my coauthor, Kathryn Hamm, at 7 pm the Harvard Coop in Harvard Square.
A key player in marriage equality, Boston was an obvious stop for the Capturing Love tour. It’s also important to us because Massachusetts is a key player in the story behind The New Art of Capturing Love.
The first same-sex wedding I photographed was in Massachusetts back in 2005 (see photo), and my experience finding my way through this uncharted territory proved to be a galvanizing event, leading me to realize that there were no resources available to support wedding photographers who needed an educational resource.
After waiting several years for someone to provide some education on same-sex wedding photography, I decided to take matters into my own hands and called Kathryn Hamm at GayWeddings.com. A brief and inspired conversation in the summer of 2012, followed by a weekend work session, and our Capturing Love collaboration was born!
In addition to some of my couples, we also feature three other Boston based photographers included in the book: Allana Taranto, Johnny Arguedas and Kristin Chalmers.
Please join us as we ring in a decade of love captured in the fine city of Boston.
